Launching a New Site: Crossing Church

Previous Post «Next Post »

It was a fun project. I had a very liberal dose of creative freedom and a perfect amount of direction and constraint from the client—my church. A screen shot of the new design is shown in Figure 1 and the website is located at http://crossinglouisville.com/

We’re going to be doing some cool things with YouTube and the Media section of the site (although currently not finished) using some advanced WordPress integration. And on a side note, if you ever find yourself with unruly validation errors—courtesy of embedded YouTube videos—I would point you to a very easy fix for YouTube validation errors.

Upcoming Stuff

I have some announcements, projects, etc. coming down the pipeline that I’m excited to share here; nothing life-shattering, but still fun. One or two should be coming very soon, the rest hopefully not too far behind.

Hi there,

My son Danny showed me the website you built for Crossing Church.

Please email me regarding our church’s website.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi, David,

Excellent delineation, and color. I would hope I would’ve guessed it to be your work, as it’s got a Yeiser sort of feel. There are visual themes across The Design Canopy, your WordPress theme, and this new site. Line, elegant simplicity. Actually, it should be no surprise that Will and Ian should like it, too; there’s a lot of elegant simplicity across the work of the three of you, characterized by pleasant and effective use of linear separation, whitespace, and clean color palettes.

Now that I have created my image as a fawning fanboy, I’m off. :)

Thanks, Daniel. I agree that Ian, Will and I have similar tastes in design.

How’s your redesign coming?

I’m merely a hobbyist, with no design background, and there’s precious little time to really devote to it at the moment. I’m changing the scope of my place, moving away from a product of currency and the now to something that houses more varied kinds and contexts of content. All of that combined = projected completion date: 2025.
