Working WordPress Theme

Previous Post «Next Post »

I’ve been promising that a WordPress theme is coming soon in the Downloads section for a month now. It’s still true; a theme is in the works (see Figure 1 below). I can’t say for sure when it will be completed because as most people I’m extremely busy right now, but it will be completed.

A screen shot of the WordPress theme I'm developing.Figure 1: The WordPress theme that I’m developing.

Some of the features include:

  • Grid-based design,
  • widget-ready area at the bottom of each post/page,
  • capability to extend images beyond the measure of the text,
  • use of PNGs for ease of modification,
  • and more!

So my question to you is if you have any features that you would like in a theme? I can’t guarantee anything, but I’ll give each suggestion consideration.

please don’t make it typical…

Well, actually this one will probably be more typical than not. But don’t worry! I plan to experiment with more “outside of the box” theme designs.

that’s quite good.

btw, how did you made the excerpt on the front page and on the post’s page.

Ikram-Zidane,

For the excerpt I utilize WordPress’ native function, the_excerpt();. This outputs the excerpt for the post, and if there’s no excerpt it just spits out the first several sentences of the post. It does have to be inside the blog loop to work though.

As far as the different styles, there are two separate files that handle the different pages. So the excerpt is just styled differently in those two pages.

Does that answer your question?
